Job summary

Carewest Innovative Healthcare in Calgary is seeking a Therapy Assistant to support a team of Physical and/or Occupational Therapists at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre.

You will provide therapeutic programming for adults with complex medical needs, help patients achieve discharge goals, and contribute to quality of life through appropriate interventions. Computer experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited Therapy Assistant program.
• Previous experience in a therapeutic setting is essential.
• Relevant equivalent training or experience may be considered.
• Experience with computers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic programming to clients under supervision of Physical and/or Occupational Therapists.
• Assist clients in maximizing safe, functional independence and discharge goals.
• Contribute to clients' quality of life with appropriate interventions.

Position Summary:

Responsible for working under the direction of the team Physical and/or Occupational Therapists to provide therapeutic programming to clients focused on helping them to achieve their discharge goals. This position works as part of the therapy team to contribute to the client's quality of life by providing appropriate interventions to maximize safe, functional independence. Responsible for other related duties as required.

Program Summary: Chronic Medical Care - for adults living with a complex disease or life-threatening illness. The prime populations are adults on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, as well as people who need specialized respiratory support.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Graduation from an Accredited Therapy Assistant program.
