Grande Prairie Live Theatre is seeking a Theatre Technician to support the venue's lighting, sound and rigging systems. You will advise and assist theatre groups, operate equipment, and help maintain gear to ensure safe performances.

The role emphasizes hands-on technical duties, equipment setup, and safety compliance, with supervision from the general manager and occasional supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Theatre lighting, sound, and rigging equipment knowledge.
• Proper placement and operation to obtain the desired theatrical effect.
• Maintenance requirements for lighting, sound and rigging.
• Safety regulations governing lighting, sound and rigging.
• Building and fire code regulations.
• Knowledge of current audio/visual equipment set-up.
• Some set construction and theatre carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Provides advice and assistance to theatre groups in set-up and operation of lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
• May personally operate lighting, sound, and rigging systems.
• Repair and maintain lighting, sound, and rigging equipment.
• Advise on purchasing replacements of equipment.
• Ensure the safe and proper use of theatre lighting and sound equipment.
• Instruct volunteers in safe operation of lighting, audio and rigging equipment.
