Job summary

Community Ventures Society (CVS) is hiring a Community Support Worker to assist adults with developmental disabilities in our Community Inclusion program in Port Moody.

The role includes helping clients find paid work, teaching life skills, supporting social enterprises, and facilitating inclusive community activities. Starting wage is CAD 27.53 per hour for temporary full-time or casual positions, with driving as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
• Requires a Class 5 driver's license (willing to obtain Class 4) and own reliable vehicle.
• Current First Aid training or willingness to obtain.
• A clean driving and criminal record.
• Must implement Trauma-Informed Support plans and Positive Behaviour Supports.

Job Description:

The Community Support Worker supports adults with developmental abilities in our Community Inclusion program. The successful candidate will be supporting people with various activities including, but not limited to:

Supporting individuals to find and retain paid employment

Teaching life skills aligned with personal and employment goals

Supporting individuals to run their own social enterprises

Supporting and encouraging independence and self-determination

Recreational and leisure activities such as swimming, hiking and many more

Facilitating community inclusion and relationship building

Teaching and facilitating effective communication

What you bring to the job:

Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities

A class 5 driver’s license (willing to obtain a class 4 license) and your own reliable vehicle

Current First Aid training (or willingness to obtain)

A clean driving and criminal record

Must be willing to learn about and implement Trauma-Informed Support plans, Positive Behaviour Supports, and MANDT

The ability to connect and communicate with the individuals we serve in a respectful way and be supportive of the needs of the individuals
