Job summary

Community Ventures Society in Port Coquitlam, BC, is seeking a Community Support Worker to assist adults with developmental disabilities in community inclusion, employment support, life skills, and social enterprises.

You will promote independence, facilitate recreation, communication, and relationship building while applying trauma-informed practices and positive behaviour supports.

Qualifications

• Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
• A class 5 driver’s license (willing to obtain a class 4 license) and your own reliable vehicle.
• Current First Aid training (or willingness to obtain).
• A clean driving and criminal record.
• Must be willing to learn about and implement Trauma-Informed Support plans, Positive Behaviour Supports, and MANDT.
• The ability to connect and communicate with the individuals we serve in a respectful way and be supportive of the needs of the individuals.

Job Description:

The Community Support Worker supports adults with developmental abilities in our Community Inclusion program. The successful candidate will be supporting people with various activities including, but not limited to:

Supporting individuals to find and retain paid employment

Teaching life skills aligned with personal and employment goals

Supporting individuals to run their own social enterprises

Supporting and encouraging independence and self-determination

Recreational and leisure activities such as swimming, hiking and many more

What you bring to the job:
