Job summary

Atlantic Packaging seeks a Testing Lab Technician in Brampton to prepare and test corrugated board, including basis weight, edge crush (ECT), caliper, Cobb, BCT, Mullen, and related tests. You will report to the Structural Design Manager and support pre-shipment tests such as drop and vibration.

The role requires a college diploma or university degree in laboratory science, packaging technology, or materials science, with 1–2 years of lab/quality control experience and familiarity with

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of hands-on laboratory or quality control experience, ideally in pulp, paper, or corrugated packaging.
• Familiarity with TAPPI, ASTM, or ISO testing procedures for paper and corrugated materials.
• Strong communication skills for teamwork and independent work.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement company quality systems and policies.
• Daily testing of samples from plant corrugators and converting lines.
• Execute specialized tests in the mill lab environment (e.g., S.T.F.I., slip angle, Mullen).
• Prepare, test, and report on basis weight, edge crush, caliper, pin adhesion, flat crush, BCT, Mullen burst, Cobb tests.
• Forward random testing results and reports to Quality Control personnel.
• Advising the Structural Design Manager on non-conformances and stock issues.
