Job summary

Magna Exteriors seeks a qualified Mechanical Engineering Technologist to join our lab team. You will perform weld and durability tests, interpret blueprints, and ensure products meet specifications. The role emphasizes safety, conformance testing, and collaboration with engineering and production to drive quality improvements.

Exposure to ISO/QS 9000, TS16949 and AIAG standards is valued, with opportunities for growth within Magna Exteriors across a global manufacturing network.

Qualifications

• Minimum Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Ability to accurately test products for consistency with specifications.
• Good verbal and written communication skill.
• Quality Assurance training.
• Working with hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform various product tests including weld testing with available equipment.
• Maintain knowledge of lab test manuals and ISO/QS 9000, TS16949:2002, AIAG standards and customer standards.
• Make pass/fail recommendations on tests per standards/specifications.
• Carry out conformance testing for engineering, quality and production departments.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of test equipment and measuring instruments.
• Analyze test samples and report results with corrective actions.
• Perform environmental, durability, salt spray, static/dynamic load and weld testing; support prototype build.

Job Responsibilities:

Immediate open position QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to accurately test products for consistency with specifications. Good verbal and written communication skill. Quality Assurance training. Working with hand tools DESIRABLE ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Optional) - Preferred but not required Electrical/mechanical experience is an asset Previous test lab related experience is an asset Previous machine shop experience is an asset Automotive manufacturing experience MAIN TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Compensation: $65,000 - 70,000 annually Schedules and performs various product testing including weld testing with available equipment. Maintain knowledge of Mytox Lab Manual pertaining to Lab, ISO/QS 9000, TS16949:2002, AIAG standards, customer standards, safety standards. Make "pass" or "fail" recommendations on tests in accordance with set standards/specifications. Carry out continual conformance testing for the engineering, quality, and production department. Safe operation and maintenance of test equipment and measuring instruments to prevent costly damage to prototypes and equipment. Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures. Troubleshooting of test lab equipment -- current and preventative. Conducts analysis of test samples Assign priorities and schedules tests. Perform testing for PPAP and DVP + R. Read and become knowledgeable with specifications and standards. Accurately report test results and advise corrective actions. Perform environmental testing, durability testing, salt spray testing, static/dynamic load testing, and weld testing* Support prototype build. Complete technical writing, test reports, summaries and presentations.
