Job summary

Magna Exteriors is seeking an automotive quality engineer in Ontario to drive continuous improvement, manage PPAP submissions, and coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams. You will read blueprints, analyze data, and implement corrective actions in a high-volume OEM environment.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in automotive QA, Six Sigma experience, and strong English communication skills. Travel and cross-functional collaboration are expected in this role.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or comparable post-secondary education or equivalent work experience.
  • 3–5 years in an automotive environment with brands like GM, Ford, Stellantis-Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Tesla, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes.
  • Experience with PPAP submissions, OEM launch processes, TRAX, ChangeX and related quality systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).
  • Familiarity with ISO/TS16949 auditing and quality improvement methods.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal and customer data to drive continuous improvement actions.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing to implement quality improvements on new and mature products.
  • Interface with Customer, Product Engineering and TRAX/ChangeX to manage quality issues and corrective actions.
  • Lead or support AGP/CI initiatives and ensure timely completion of quality requirements.

Because we believe that your career path should be as unique as you are.Group Summary:The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.Recognized globally as an innovator in all aspects of vehicle exteriors, Magna provides everything needed, from materials development and design through manufacturing and assembly, to help automakers create sleek, state-of-the-art vehicles across the world.Job Responsibilities:QUALIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO DO THE JOB:- Immediate opening- $80,000 - $95,000 annual compensation- Engineering degree or comparable post-secondary education or equivalent work experience- 3-5 years in an automotive environment (GM, Ford, Stellantis-Chrysler, Honda and Toyota, Tesla, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes)- Experienced in PPAP submissions, OEM launch process, TRAX, ChangeX etc.- Excellent communication skills (English - spoken and written)- Demonstrated problem solving ability in a production environment using scientific and statistical techniques- Six Sigma experience or knowledge of process and tools required- Proficiency in problem solving process and customer responses – G-car/SPPS, NCT, QR etc.- Must have previous experience managing a customer base from a quality perspective- Ability to read blueprints and proven competency with standard metrology tools- Computer proficiency to include experience with Microsoft, Project, Excel, Word, etc.- Manufacturing process experience relative to high production OEM environment required- Must be familiar with automotive physical, performance and appearance testing- Must be familiar with APQP (GD&T, DOE., SPC, DFMEA-PFMEA, Control plans, etc.)- ISO/TS16949 – Auditing experience- Must demonstrate strong organizational skills regarding overall workload scheduling- Willingness and availability to travel- E-coat/ powder coat knowledge as an assetMAIN DUTIES:- Analysis of internal (trends, scrap, SPC, etc) and customer (warranty, PPM, returns, etc) to drive actions focused on continuous improvement- Interface with Manufacturing to implement continuous improvement opportunities on new and mature products (lead or drive initiatives on the plant floor)- Interface with customer and present corrective action plan- Interface with Product Engineering from initial design to final launch of program- CFT responsibilities, TRAX, ChangeX- Implement quality systems, CofQ Analysis and CI implementation- Develop timelines and ensure timely completion of all quality requirements- Evaluate and implement Engineering Change Proposals- E-coat/ powder coat process and quality analysis- Root cause analysis for EPP foam/ e-coat/ powder coat quality issue and drive systemic corrective actions- Implement soft launch strategy with exit plan- Other duties as requiredAwareness, Unity, Empowerment:At Magna, we believe that a diverse workforce is critical to our success.
