Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Terrestrial Ecologist to join our growing and dynamic team in our Waterloo, ON office on a full-time permanent basis. This role involves providing technical guidance to private and public clients within the natural environment regulatory framework.

Working with an energetic team, this position offers diverse responsibilities, including:

  • Providing expertise in wildlife and vegetation surveys
  • Leading, coordinating, and conducting field surveys, including for Species at Risk and habitat assessments
  • Conducting wetland evaluations and boundary delineations
  • Supporting proposal development, including scoping, budgeting, and planning
  • Leading technical report writing and providing input on environmental assessments and related reports
  • Managing permits and approvals (e.g., MECP, Conservation Authorities, ESA, SARA)
  • Performing literature reviews of project-related documents and data sources
  • Interpreting and analyzing environmental data
  • Potential supervision of field teams or direct reports
  • Mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative environment

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or environmental studies
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Ontario wildlife and vegetation surveys, including Species At Risk protocols
  • Willingness to travel and work in diverse field conditions
  • Ontario-based certifications (e.g., Ecological Land Classification) are preferred
  • Experience in preparing Environmental Impact Studies
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail in a consulting environment
  • Flexibility to handle various projects and responsibilities
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to obtain first aid certification
