TEMPORARY STUDENT SUPPORT WORKER

The Greater Essex County District School Board invites application packages from persons qualified for the position of Temporary Student Support Worker.

Responsibilities

• Must be available for day-to-day casual replacement and long-term assignments at various school locations throughout the City of Windsor and Essex County.
• Support teacher(s) with the preparation of learning materials necessary to assist identified students.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of students by using proper lifting techniques.
• Implement Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) in compliance with Board Policy and training.
• Provide supervision of identified students in and around the school.
• Support and ensure the dignity of students with their personal needs.
• Demonstrate a commitment to creating a fair, inclusive, anti-racist environment for all stakeholders, supporting diverse populations.
• Work with the school-based team to implement and monitor programs supporting various skills including academic, social, motor, communication, and vocational skills.
• Perform other duties related to student needs as determined by the Principal.

Rate of Pay

$21.89 - $29.91 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma.
• Preference given to those with certificates from an accredited college in programs such as:
• Educational Assistant Diploma
• American Sign Language and Deaf Studies or Interpreter
• Developmental Service Worker
• Child and Youth Care
• Early Childhood Educator
• Experience or other related training and certification in the field.
• Experience working with students with special needs in educational or residential settings.
