Job summary

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (Accounting) to support accounting and financial reporting. You will analyze balance sheet accounts, manage complex reconciliations, assist year-end processes, monitor cash flow, and help improve accounting efficiency.

You will provide guidance to Accounting and Payroll staff, back up key financial functions, and work within a dynamic municipal finance team under the supervision of the Supervisor of Accounting.

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration or similar field or equivalent.
• CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation.
• Minimum six (6) years’ accounting/financial analysis experience in progressively senior roles.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
• Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High accuracy and attention to detail for analysis.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects.
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Criminal Record Check required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides functional advice, financial analysis and direction to staff in other departments to ensure compliance with financial/accounting requirements.
• Supports and directs staff on Accounts Payable processes and issue resolution.
• Performs monthly accounting duties and oversees monthly financial reporting.
• Maintains controls related to the Town’s bank accounts, AP, reconciliations and petty cash.
• Prepares complex account reconciliations and reviews balance sheet reconciliations.
• Approves vendor changes for accuracy and coding.
