Job summary

The Town of Ajax seeks a Senior Financial Analyst (Accounting) to support accounting and financial reporting, analyze balance sheet accounts, oversee complex reconciliations, and assist year-end processes. This role provides guidance to staff, ensures internal controls, and supports cash flow and ITC framework development.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Accounting, the incumbent will back up key financial functions, monitor grants, and collaborate on reporting and reimbursements while working in

Qualifications

• University degree in Business Administration or equivalent.
• CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) required.
• Minimum 6 years’ accounting/financial analysis experience.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.
• High accuracy with strong analytical abilities.
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Criminal Record Check required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide financial analysis and guidance to staff across departments.
• Oversee accounts payable and issue resolution.
• Perform monthly accounting and financial reporting.
• Maintain internal controls for bank, AP, reconciliations and petty cash.
• Prepare complex reconciliations and approve balance sheet reconciliations.
• Approve vendor changes for accuracy and coding.
• Prepare weekly cash flow projections.
• Support ITC and HST review.
• Monitor annual work plans with Accounting Supervisor.
• Implement ITC framework for operating costs and eligible capital projects.
• Collaborate to monitor grants, ensure compliance and reporting.
• Process and post employee expense reimbursements in Workday.
• Maintain MAT records and reimbursements from Region.
• Coordinate and prepare FIR data submissions.
