Job summary

Bunge seeks a Temporary Production Technician in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. You will safely operate and maintain production equipment to support canola oil and meal manufacturing, with a 12-hour rotating shift and a starting hourly rate of 37.00.

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will ensure safety, quality and environmental standards while driving efficiency and reliability of plant processes. Relevant certifications and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license is required.
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Fourth Class Power Engineering Certification or higher is required.
  • Experience in industrial/manufacturing/production environments is an asset.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including days and nights, with schedules changing as required by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor plant processes and equipment through routine inspections and HMI systems.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and housekeeping policies.
  • Make process adjustments to achieve production, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Identify and communicate operational issues that may impact safety, product quality, production, or equipment reliability.
  • Collect, label, and manage required product and process samples.
  • Support plant startup, shutdown, and turnaround activities while minimizing downtime and product loss.
  • Maintain understanding of prep, extraction, and steam plant processes and equipment.
  • Work with operations, maintenance, and contractor personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Complete accurate operational logs, production reports, and shift documentation.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment while monitoring and controlling plant operations with minimal supervision.
  • Participate in rotational assignments between Prep Plant and Extraction Plant to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as required.

A Day in the Life:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Technician is responsible for safely operating and maintaining production equipment and processes to ensure quality standards are met in the most efficient manner possible. This role supports the safe, reliable, and efficient production of canola oil and meal while adhering to Bunge's quality, safety, environmental, and operational standards.

  • The starting hourly rate is 37.00
  • The schedule is a 12-hour rotating shift

What You’ll Be Doing:

Skills/Experience Requirements:
