Job summary

The City of Kitchener is seeking a Downtown Core temporary labourer to support winter operations in Downtown Kitchener. You will perform daily operational tasks, interact with the public and business owners, and assist with seasonal events and winter maintenance.

This temporary full-time position runs for approximately 3 months and requires reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work varying shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Valid MTO class G driver's license in good standing.
• Able to perform a variety of duties including manual labour.
• Flexible to work varying shifts, weekends and overtime as required.
• Must have demonstrated communication/customer service skills and ability to keep accurate written records.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support to set up/takedown of seasonal events throughout the winter.
• Collect waste and empty waste receptacles.
• Pick litter and collect and remove sharps.
• Assist with the removal of graffiti.
• Assist with the setup/takedown of outdoor furniture.
• Perform inspections and carry out maintenance of Downtown Core infrastructure.
• Conduct inspections, record data using GIS mapping tools, and perform maintenance on Downtown Core infrastructure.
• Perform winter maintenance of specific Downtown core areas and amenities as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
