Job summary

Callahan Property Group is seeking a General Labourer for a summer term to support our Maintenance team across residential and commercial sites in Kelowna. You will keep work sites clean, move materials, assist carpenters, prep walls for painting, and help with debris removal, following directions from supervisors.

A valid BC driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift 50 lbs are required; a clean criminal record check may be requested if interviewed.

Qualifications

• Physically fit with ability to carry 50 lbs.
• General knowledge of construction materials and their use.
• Understanding of general construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily work instructions from Maintenance Manager promptly.
• Load/unload construction materials and move to work areas.
• Prepare sites by removing obstacles and hazards.
• Lift and carry materials as needed.
• Support carpenters and other trades when required.
• Remove debris and clean work sites with typical tools.
• Perform site clean-up and prep interior/exterior walls for painting.
• Cut and roll paint as needed.
• Other duties as required.

About the Role

The Maintenance team is responsible for the consistent upkeep of a variety of local residential and commercial buildings. The activities range from full apartment renovations to small repairs and clean up. The General Labourer position is key to ensure work sites remain clean and organized, removing hazards and following directions from supervisors and other skilled tradesmen. This is a summer term position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute daily work instructions received from the Maintenance Manager in a timely manner.
• Loading and unloading construction materials and moving to work areas.
• Prepare work sites by removing obstacles and hazards.
• Lifting and carrying material, as needed.
• Support carpenters and other skilled labour when necessary.
• Removing debris at work sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment.
• Perform site clean-up.
• Prepping interior and exterior walls for painting
• Cutting and rolling paint, as required.
• Other duties, as required.

• Good physical condition including the ability to carry 50 lbs. of material.
• General knowledge of construction material and their use.
• General knowledge of practices and methods applicable to general construction.
