Job summary

Prairie South Schools invites applications for an Educational Assistant at Coteau Hills Elementary School. The position is temporary, 1.0 FTE at 6 hours per day, starting ASAP and ending when the permanent employee returns.

The CUPE Local 5512 posting governs terms and conditions. The successful candidate will support students with diverse needs and/or high behavioural needs, following the classroom plan and contributing to a safe, productive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution.
• At least 1 year post-secondary training related to student needs (e.g., Educational Assistant, ECD, Youth Worker, or Rehabilitation Worker).
• Valid Class 5 driver's license.

Education & Qualifications

• A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education or General Educational Development (GED)
• A minimum of one (1) year post-secondary training related to student needs such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Development, Youth Worker or Rehabilitation Worker (such training must be from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Employer)
• A valid Class 5 drivers license

Physical Requirements: The ability to do heavy work is required in some assignments (ie; exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to lift students and/or move objects).

Wage & Benefits

• In accordance with the current CUPE Local 5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Currently, this is a range of $22.49 to $26.43 per hour.
