Job summary

Don Ross Middle School in District - South is seeking a temporary Custodian. The position runs 8 hours per day, 12 months per year, at $30.47 per hour, immediately to December 18, 2026 or until the incumbent returns.

Responsibilities include general cleaning, moving furniture, lighting maintenance, operation of cleaning equipment, and adherence to WHMIS and safety regulations. Applicants must have Grade 10 and related training; a criminal records check is required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 10 with relevant courses/workshops and up to 3 months related experience.
• Building Service Worker course is considered relevant training.
• Knowledge of WHMIS and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

• Lifting of miscellaneous furniture and changing lights.

The following temporary position is open for applications:

CUSTODIAN

Location: District - South

Don Ross Middle School

Temporary : Immediately to December 18, 2026, or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, 1 2 months per year

Pay: $30.47 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

General cleaning of schools as assigned by the General Manager of Operations, which includes lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, knowledge of chemicals and application of floor coatings and attention to building security.

Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience. Relevant courses/workshops would be the Building Service Worker course. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Worksafe BC safety regulations.

Competition Closes Friday August 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
