Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association, as featured on Make a Future Careers in BC Education, seeks an Maintenance Worker to perform general cleaning in schools. The role requires basic training, physical tasks such as lifting furniture, and operation of cleaning equipment under supervision.

Qualifications

• Apply floor coatings and manage cleaning chemicals safely.
• Monitor building security as part of duties.

Job description

Rate of Pay: $30.47 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

General cleaning of schools as assigned by the Manager of Maintenance which includes lifting of miscellaneous furniture, changing lights, operation of motorized cleaning equipment, knowledge of chemicals and application of floor coatings and attention to building security.

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 10 plus relevant courses/workshops and up to and including three (3) months related experience or an equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Relevant courses/workshops would be the Building Service Worker course.
• Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) safety regulations.
