Why work for New Age Services? We offer a supportive team environment, ongoing training and development opportunities, competitive wages, and benefits. We value diversity and believe it makes us stronger—promoting equal representation of human differences and equal opportunities for growth, advancement, and reward. Our six core values guide our daily actions:

  1. Advocacy: We passionately advocate for those who cannot speak up for themselves.
  2. Results: We set high-performance standards.
  3. Caring: We go the extra mile to build meaningful relationships.
  4. Empowerment: We empower employees to take initiatives.
  5. Ownership: We expect everyone to take responsibility and share the workload.
  6. Learning: We embrace new ideas and continuous improvement.

Our individuals living at our "Hawkmount" group home are seeking a Community Support Worker to assist with their daily needs. The individuals may have diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, severe developmental delays, dementia, scoliosis, blindness, and deafness. Behavioral support plans will be provided to help achieve their goals. The role involves supporting individuals with hygiene routines, meal preparation, program activities, house chores, grocery shopping, and medication administration. The position requires comfort with driving across Calgary and attending medical appointments, sporting activities like swimming, and other community engagements.

About You:

You are compassionate, attentive, and passionate about working with people with disabilities. You are comfortable providing full personal care, participating in social and recreational activities, advocating within the community, and promoting healthy lifestyles and social interactions. You possess good knowledge of community events and activities that can benefit the individuals. You are professional, take ownership, follow policies and procedures, and are solution-oriented—able to identify support needs and respond appropriately. You are committed to understanding your individuals' needs and acting in their best interests while maintaining professional boundaries. You have previous experience working with individuals with disabilities and are willing to research, develop, and implement growth programs. You can manage administrative tasks effectively to build rapport with the individuals.

This is a temporary position at 25 hours/week, located in our "Hawkmount" group home in Northwest Calgary. The starting pay rate is $21.19 per hour, with potential increases after an annual review. After a three-month probation, you will be eligible for benefits.

The schedule is from:

  • Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Requirements include:

  • A diploma in the Human Services or Disability Sector (equivalencies considered; international programs may require WES or IQAS assessment). Accepted fields include psychology, nursing, sociology, social work, criminal justice, education, disability studies, addictions, etc.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license, reliable vehicle, with minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance.
  • Intermediate computer and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of swimming.
  • Ability to provide medical, technological, environmental, physical, and behavioral support.
  • Emergency First Aid & CPR Level A certification.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum and Developmental Delays.
  • Experience with medication administration.
  • One to two years relevant experience in human services.
  • Additional training such as Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention, and Positive Behavior Supports.
  • Post-hire training in back care, lifting, ostomy and G-tube care, personal care, and the use of lifts and slings.
