Cyient is seeking an experienced Field Technician with strong Aerial Telecommunications and Outside Plant (OSP) experience to support telecom field projects in Thunder Bay and the vicinities. The role requires hands-on work with aerial fiber networks, utility poles, pole attachments, and OSP telecommunications projects.

Travel to project sites is required, and you will document conditions, collect data, and coordinate with engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Field Technician, OSP Technician, Telecom Field Technician, Fiber Technician, or similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field surveys of aerial telecommunications and OSP infrastructure.
  • Inspect and document existing utility poles, aerial fiber routes, attachments, cables, and related telecom equipment.
  • Collect accurate field measurements, photographs, equipment information, and site conditions.
  • Identify existing pole-line conditions and potential construction or design issues.
  • Verify field information required for engineering and design activities.
  • Support fiber-optic and aerial telecom network deployment projects.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation and submit completed field data within required timelines.
  • Coordinate with engineering, design, construction, and project teams.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures while working in the field and around utility infrastructure.
  • Travel to project sites as required.

Job Summary

Cyient is seeking an experienced Field Technician with strong Aerial Telecommunications and Outside Plant (OSP) experience to support telecom field projects in the Thunder Bay and vicinities.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with aerial fiber networks, utility poles, field surveys, pole‑line infrastructure, and OSP telecommunications projects. This position requires regular field work and travel to project locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform field surveys of aerial telecommunications and OSP infrastructure.
  • Inspect and document existing utility poles, aerial fiber routes, attachments, cables, and related telecom equipment.
  • Collect accurate field measurements, photographs, equipment information, and site conditions.
  • Identify existing pole‑line conditions and potential construction or design issues.
  • Verify field information required for engineering and design activities.

  • Experience conducting field surveys and collecting technical field data.
  • Ability to read and understand telecom drawings, maps, and construction documentation.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and traveling between project locations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
