Job summary

Kent is looking for a Telecom Technician to support telecommunications systems and infrastructure at the Fort McKay site in Alberta. This is a site-based, full-time role with a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, working day shifts in a fast-paced client-facing environment.

You will install and configure hardware and software, troubleshoot issues, and support Genetec security platforms and fiber optic networks while ensuring safety and quality on site.

Qualifications

Certificate and/or relevant courses in telecommunications.
Electrical trade certification may also be considered.
Knowledge and Experience utilizing the Genetec Security Platform.
Knowledge and Experience in Digital Security Cameras including but not limited to Hernis, Axis and Avigilon.
Knowledge of Tyco Safety systems (PAGA).

Responsibilities

Perform installation, and configuration of hardware and software components.
Perform troubleshooting, hardware, and software issues on a different system.
Perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of Card Access Systems which include panels, cards, cabling, and all associated programming in Genetec Platform.
Perform installation of Digital Camera’s and associated cabling and hardware with options of interfacing them onto the Genetec System.
Assist other telecom disciplines with other scopes.
Assist with Fiber Optic systems.

This is a site-based role, working within the plant telecom team and supporting a wide range of telecom activities including security systems, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure as required. This position operates on a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, working day shifts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
