Job summary

Tridon Communications in Calgary is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for Telecommunications & Security Systems to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical and low-voltage networks on industrial and commercial sites. You will work on CCTV, access control, structured cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, wireless systems, and network infrastructure.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints and schematics, performing live terminations, testing and commissioning, documenting service

Qualifications

  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team working on diverse projects involving industrial communications, networking, access control, CCTV, structured cabling, wireless systems, and fiber optic infrastructure.
Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and low-voltage communication systems
  • Perform installation and service work for:
    • CCTV systems
    • Access control systems
    • Structured cabling
    • Fiber optic infrastructure
    • Wireless communication systems
    • Network infrastructure
    • Industrial communication systems
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and red-line drawings
  • Perform live connects and field terminations safely and efficiently
  • Conduct testing, commissioning, and system verification
  • Troubleshoot communication and networking issues in commercial and industrial environments
  • Complete documentation, red-line markups, and service reports accurately
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, service, and project teams
  • Maintain safe work practices in accordance with company and site safety requirements
Qualifications
Required
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Ability to pass and maintain site access requirements, including drug and alcohol testing
  • Experience working with telecommunications, low-voltage, or integrated security systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, industry standards, and safe work practices
  • Experience reading and interpreting drawings and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Preferred Assets
  • Experience in commercial or industrial telecommunications environments
  • Experience with security systems integration including CCTV and access control
  • Networking knowledge and familiarity with IP-based systems
  • Fiber optic installation and termination experience
  • Experience with industrial communication systems and wireless infrastructure
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices
  • Experience working in oil & gas, industrial, or large commercial facilities
  • Manufacturer certifications or experience with systems such as:
    • Motorola Solutions
    • Avigilon
    • Genetec
    • LenelS2
    • Cisco Systems
    • Aruba Networks
