Job summary

TEEMA is seeking a Telecom Ops Project Manager to drive end-to-end delivery of the TDSO capital program from the Fraser Valley Office Control Centre in Burnaby. In this eight-month contract, you will coordinate business, vendor and internal teams to meet scope, schedule and budget for telecom infrastructure, software upgrades, and network monitoring changes.

  • Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, business, economics or related discipline.
  • PMP designation preferred.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Program and project management/coordination of all end-to-end activities for projects/initiatives.
  • Lead delivery team (business, vendor, internal suppliers) through design, planning, delivery, troubleshooting, collaboration and progress; manage decisions and changes.
  • Work with tools and framework setup by the TDSO capital team.
  • Understand business requirements and proposed scope to be delivered.
  • Lead deliverables and milestones: procurement; PoC; implementation; testing & verification.
  • Engage stakeholders and delivery team; establish meeting and collaboration environment for project success.
  • Establish project schedules and manage milestones.
  • Set up and lead financial trackers – forecasts, actuals, accruals, variance analysis.
  • Lead program/project check-in meetings; capture actions and log follow-ups.
  • Maintain RAID log (risk, actions, issues, decisions).
  • Prepare regular program status reports per templates and schedule.
  • Ensure alignment with strategy and delivery on time, budget and scope.
  • Ensure scope and requirements are addressed during transition to operations and project completion.

Job Title: TDSO Capital – Telecom Ops Project Manager

Overview: There is a need for PM to deliver work under the TDSO (Transmission & Distribution System Operations) annual capital work program, based in the Fraser Valley Office Control Centre.The program runs on annual funding with projects that start and complete within the fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).The projects meet a range of requirements for TDSO, and can include physical updates to device testing and lab spaces, telecom infrastructure (asset replacements – servers, tools, etc.), software (new or existing software upgrades/installations), networking (configuring or introducingchanges to our network), changes or replacements to network monitoring systems (NMS’s – for monitoring field telecom assets), and integration (of new or existing software or processes into our systems).

What you will be doing:

  • Program and project management/coordination of all end to end activities for projects/initiatives.
  • Leading delivery team (business, vendor, internal suppliers) through design, planning, delivery, supporting troubleshooting, facilitating collaboration and driving progress, managing key decisions and change,negotiating trade-offs, setting deadlines and ensuring team is aware of their responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Work with established tools and framework setup by the TDSO capital team.
  • Understanding the business requirements, proposed scope(s) to be delivered
  • Leading delivery team(s) through program and project deliverables and milestones:procurement; PoC; implementation; testing & verification.
  • Engaging stakeholders and delivery team (business and vendor); establish meeting/collaboration environment to ensure project success
  • Establishing project schedules for the project & managing to the milestones
  • Setting up and leading financial trackers – forecasts, actuals, accruals, variance analysis.
  • Leading program and project checkin meetings with vendors/business team; setting agendas, capturing actions, following up on actions (ie., action log).
  • Maintaining RAID log or similar (risk, actions, issues, decisions).
  • Prepare regular program and project status reports using dept. standard templates, within established reporting schedule.
  • Responsibility for Program level objectives (alignment with strategy), delivery on schedule, budget and scope of initiatives/projects therein.
  • Ensure scope & requirements have been addressed during project, reflecting completion in a Transition to Operations phase, and, Completion & Acceptance document.

What you must have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Economics or related discipline
  • Project Management Professional (PMP®) designation, preferred
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project)
  • Advanced English skills for professional environment, written and spoken

Salary Rate/Range: $87.00-$105.00 per hour

Term: 8-month contract; most likely to extend
