Job summary

Siemens Canada is seeking a Technology Specialist in Winnipeg, MB, focused on Fire Alarm Systems. You will lead design, programming, verification, and commissioning across projects, coordinating with technicians, project managers, and customers to ensure code compliance and successful delivery.

The role requires 5+ years’ experience with fire alarm systems, knowledge of Canadian fire codes, and the ability to mentor teams. Travel within the region and ongoing training are expected.

Qualifications

• Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Trades, or related field.
• CFAA Certification or eligibility to obtain CFAA certification.
• 5+ years of experience with fire alarm systems and project execution.
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm codes, standards, and best practices.
• Experience with programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system testing.
• Ability to mentor technicians and deliver technical leadership.

What is this opportunity?

In this role as Technology Specialist (Fire Alarm Systems), you will provide technical leadership for the design, programming, commissioning, verification, and execution of fire alarm projects on both new and existing installations. You will work closely with technicians, project managers, designers, sales teams, and customers to ensure successful project delivery while maintaining compliance with applicable fire codes, standards, and Siemens quality requirements.

Your involvement will begin during project planning and design and continue through commissioning, customer training, system handover, and project closeout.

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba area

What will you do?

Technical Leadership & Project Execution

• Manage Fire Alarm projects and associated customer relationships.
• Review project plans, specifications, code requirements, and contract documents to define project parameters.
• Select fire alarm system components and network architecture to ensure functionality, performance, and code compliance.
• Provide technical design support, programming, commissioning, verification, and customer handover activities.
• Lead complex troubleshooting activities and provide technical expertise to technicians and project teams.
• Support field teams during installation, testing, verification, and project execution activities.
• Manage project scope, schedules, quality requirements, and technical deliverables.
• Complete project closeout documentation and customer turnover activities.
• Coordinate the receipt, tracking, storage, and transfer of project materials and equipment between Siemens, suppliers, and customer sites to support successful project execution.
• Maintain accountability for project materials and equipment, ensuring accurate documentation, tracking, and transfer between Siemens and customer locations.
• Perform or oversee fire alarm programming and system configuration.
• Coordinate integrated system testing and interface validation with other building systems.
• Ensure systems meet applicable fire alarm standards, local code requirements, customer specifications, and Siemens quality standards.
• Provide guidance on system upgrades, modernization projects, and lifecycle planning.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support sales teams with technical consultations and solution development.
• Participate in customer meetings and assist with technical presentations when required.

What will you need to succeed?

Education:

• Post‑secondary education in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Trades, or a related discipline.
• CFAA Certification or eligibility to obtain CFAA certification.

Experience & Technical Knowledge:

• 5+ years of experience with fire alarm systems, commissioning, installation, verification, service, or project execution.
• Demonstrated experience managing technical project deliverables and customer relationships.
• Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems and related building technologies.
• Experience with fire alarm programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and integrated system testing.
• Knowledge of Canadian fire alarm codes, standards, and industry best practices.
• Asset: Experience with Siemens Fire systems and Desigo CC.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.
• Strong customer service orientation and collaborative approach.
• Ability to mentor and support technicians and project teams.

Additional Requirements

• Valid and unrestricted G / Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to participate in the Siemens Fleet Program.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned region and client sites as required.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing technical and product training.
