Job summary

Calgary Airports invites applications for a Spatial Data professional responsible for CAD/GIS data management and records integration. You will create maps and dashboards, translate complex information into clear visuals, and maintain thorough facility records for airport projects.

  • Post-secondary diploma in Architectural or Engineering Drafting Technology or GIS is required or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of CAD/GIS/engineering technology experience in a professional environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of CAD, GIS, spatial data management, database technologies, and facility record practices.

Responsibilities

  • Create maps, drawings, exhibits, dashboards, and other visuals to support planning and project decisions.
  • Translate engineering and operational information into clear visual materials for airport projects.
  • Maintain facility records, GIS data, and asset documentation across airport systems.
  • Review consultant/contractor submissions against CAD/GIS standards and records requirements.
  • Validate and integrate project drawings, models, and documentation into authoritative airport records.
  • Reconcile field conditions with project docs to keep records current.
  • Apply CAD, GIS, data governance standards in creating and distributing spatial data.
  • Develop, test, and maintain automation tools and data processing solutions.

Status: Full-time term (October 2026 – October 2030) Unionized
Work environment: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days WFH). Employees must be available to work in the office up to five (5) days per week when required to support business priorities.

What Are Some Of The Responsibilities
  • Create maps, technical drawings, exhibits, dashboards, presentations, and other visual products that help teams understand infrastructure, facilities, assets, operational constraints, and development opportunities.
  • Translate engineering, architectural, operational, environmental, and asset information into clear visual materials that support planning, construction, infrastructure investment, and decision making for airport major projects.
  • Maintain accurate facility record drawings, GIS information, spatial databases, and asset records that document airport buildings, utilities, airfield systems, infrastructure, and project-related changes.
  • Review consultant and contractor project submissions against Calgary Airports’ CAD standards, GIS standards, facility record requirements, and project closeout specifications before records are accepted into airport systems.
  • Validate and integrate approved project drawings, models, records, asset attributes, and documentation into authoritative airport record systems to reflect installed infrastructure and completed facility changes.
  • Reconcile differences between field conditions, project documentation, and existing records to maintain accurate infrastructure information for current and future airport projects.
  • Apply CAD, GIS, facility record, and data governance standards when creating, updating, reviewing, and distributing spatial and facility information for projects and operational initiatives.
  • Develop, test, and maintain automation tools, scripts, workflows, and data processing solutions that improve the accuracy, efficiency, and accessibility of spatial and facility information used to support airport projects
What Do You Need To Bring

  • Post-secondary diploma in Architectural or Engineering Drafting Technology or Geographic Information Systems is required. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience applying CAD, GIS, facility record, engineering technology, or related skills in a professional environment is required. Candidates with experience in either a CAD-focused or GIS-focused environment are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient knowledge of CAD, GIS, spatial data management, database technologies, and facility record practices, with the ability to create, maintain, analyze, and integrate complex spatial and facility information.
  • Working knowledge of data integration, transformation, scripting, and automation tools, such as FME, Python, SQL, AutoLISP, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to interpret consultant, engineering, construction, operational, and record documentation and incorporate the information into authoritative facility records.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, investigate challenges, and develop practical solutions that support business objectives.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
What Additional Skills Are An Asset
  • Experience with both CAD and GIS technologies, workflows, and software.
  • Experience applying automation, data processing, or workflow improvement tools to improve information quality, reporting, or data accessibility.
  • Bilingual in English and French
