Job summary

SMS Equipment Inc. in Val-d'Or is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose failures, perform repairs, and prepare detailed repair reports to identify root causes.

You will order parts, adjust or replace defective components, and test equipment after service to ensure proper operation and customer satisfaction. The role includes routine maintenance, meeting repair timelines, and communicating with supervisors and customers; Komatsu knowledge is a plus, with a 14x14 shift rotation and

Qualifications

• Heavy Equipment Technician Certification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of Komatsu products is an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of computer software and portable units.
• Hardworking, proactive, self-reliant, team worker with a customer-service focus.

Responsibilities

• Analyse failure and repair required.
• Complete a full report on repairs and identify causes.
• Order parts to complete repairs.
• Adjust, repair and/or replace defective parts.
• Test equipment after repair to meet customer requirements.
• Clean, lubricate and perform regular maintenance on equipment.
• Meet scheduled time allotments for repairs.
• Notify Supervisor and/or customer of repairs needed.
• Sign the work order and forward to Supervisor for invoicing.
• Be mindful of discussions with customers about performance of products.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Your role :

• Analyse failure and repair required.
• Complete a full report on the repairs and identify the cause of failure for each problem encountered.
• Order parts to complete repairs.
• Adjust, repair and/or replace defective parts.
• Test the equipment once repaired to ensure proper operation and that the repairs meet with customer's requirements.
• Clean, lubricate and perform regular maintenance on equipment.
• Meet scheduled time allotments for repairs.
• Notify Supervisor and/or customer of all repairs needed on machines.
• Once work is completed, sign the work order, request credit for unused parts, collet all documentation (external purchases, etc.) and forward to Supervisor for invoicing.
• Always be aware of the impact of any discussion with customers pertaining to performance of products sold by SMS Equipment.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by Supervisor.

What you bring :

• Heavy Equipment Technician Certification. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in troubleshooting electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Knowledge of Komatsu products would be an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of computer software's and working with a portable unit.
• Hardworking, proactive, self-reliant, team worker and focused on customer service.
