Accountant

Role & Responsibilities

• Provide support and assistance to the Controller based in Toronto and the branch manager.
• Manage the day-to-day accounting functions for Toronto, Montreal, and Edmonton offices.
• Review the Accounts Receivable, ensure accuracy and timely payments/collections.
• Maintain the general ledger and input daily financial transactions.
• Produce accounting reports, reconciliations, and check them for accuracy.
• Provide support with the audit process by providing the necessary documentation.
• Assist in various routine and ad hoc analyses.
• Ensure compliance with departmental policies.

Education/Experience:

• Two or more years of experience as an accountant or equivalent.
• A degree in business discipline is preferred.

Success in this role requires the following skillset:

• Bilingual in English and French.
• Strong computer skills including use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and a willingness to learn new software programs as required.
• High level of comfort with learning and using accounting software.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt.
• Demonstrated common sense and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and professional image.
• Prior knowledge and use of Profit 21 business systems an asset, but not required.
• Familiarity with inventory control practices and logistics as an asset, but not required.
• Ability to travel to the Montreal office.
