Job summary

Kinectrics is seeking a Technician/Technologist for EMIS in Toronto, Ontario. The role is permanent with 40 hours per week and rotating 8–12 hour shifts, including weekends. The position reports to the Senior Director Isotope Enrichment & Production Operations and involves field tests, complex equipment setup, and data analysis.

Starting salary is listed at C$85,038 with opportunities for growth. A nuclear site security clearance is required; safety and quality are emphasized across all duties.

Qualifications

  • Completion of three-year community college or High School plus additional specialized courses related to the designated discipline or work focus.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience or equivalent combined academic and practical experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical components, instrumentation, etc. to facilitate the execution of routine operations and tests.
  • Ability to work effectively and interface with multiple team members.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management; MS Office for data analysis, charting and document preparation.

The Opportunity

Position: Technician/Technologist - EMIS

  • Hours per week: 40 hrs/week | Shift Work Position. Workers will be assigned 8 or 10 or 12 hour shifts as rotating shifts (days, afternoons, and/or nights). Weekend work will be required. Overtime may be required.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with Kinectrics policies and procedures.
  • Perform standard and routine operations and/or field tests using predominantly standard procedures and processes.
  • Perform routine processes, investigations, and technical studies for customers in one or more disciplines such as chemical, civil, mechanical, metallurgical, electrical/electronics, computer science, non-destructive evaluation, material science, environmental science, biology, etc.
  • Provide support in the setup and maintenance of complex equipment, processes, systems.
  • Assist the team in the conduct of experiments, service equipment, quality control, and inventory tracking.
  • Provide support to trouble-shoot, service, and calibration of the repair or installation of equipment, processes, or products.
  • Participate in the analysis of test results and data by use of standard software packages.
  • Write reports of a predominantly routine nature.
  • Support the preparation of operational procedures, instructions, and specifications.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, maintain good customer relations, and solve problems.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by following good quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
  • Perform routine processes and duties such as shipping, receiving, inventory control, etc.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Completion of three-year community college or High School plus additional specialized courses related to the designated discipline or work focus.

  • Knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical components, instrumentation, etc. to facilitate the execution of routine operations and tests.
  • Practical hands-on experience in the areas of operations, mechanical and electrical assembly, interface with computer applications, maintenance and/or troubleshoot of complex equipment and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively and interface with multiple team members.
  • Excellent written (technical and non-technical) and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management. Experience in the use of Microsoft Office products for data analysis, charting and document preparation.
  • Strong written (technical and non-technical) and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Quality Assurance principles.
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing/operations environment and must comply with all applicable safety protocols, procedures, standards, and Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
  • Demonstrate practice of excellent safety awareness and adherence to practices and procedures.
  • Familiarity with vacuum systems, ion sources, and/or accelerator systems is an asset.
  • Ability to successfully obtain and maintain a valid nuclear site security clearance.

This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
