Description

The Role. Reporting to the Safety Officer, as a part of the Safety, Health Radiation, Environment and Quality team, you will help ensure a safe work environment by monitoring site conditions, supporting safety programs, and promoting best practices. In this role you will spend half your time in the field, including surface and underground, conducting inspections, maintaining and testing safety and emergency equipment, and reinforcing safe work procedures through observation, coaching, and training. You will assist with incident reporting and investigations, including developing corrective and preventative actions. You will also support the development and maintenance of safety procedures, work instructions, and training materials, as well as contribute to site emergency response and fire protection programs and participate in the Emergency Response and Mine Rescue Team (ERT/MRT).

In this role, you will:

  • Support site safety, fire protection, and emergency response programs.
  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Collect, manage, and maintain safety program data and records.
  • Inspect, maintain, and test health, safety, and emergency response equipment.
  • Issue permits such as hot work and confined space.
  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings and deliver safety-related presentations.
  • Assist with safety training, incident investigations, and job hazard analyses.
  • Proactively identify hazards and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
  • Review, update, and support implementation of safety procedures and documentation.
  • Promote safe work practices through education, coaching, and mentoring at all levels of the operation.
  • Maintain active participation in the Emergency Response and Mine Rescue Team (ERT/MRT), including ongoing weekly training.
