Job summary

The City of Moose Jaw is seeking a Technician II to provide technical and project support across planning, design, construction, commissioning and documentation for capital projects. This role ensures construction records and GIS data remain accurate, accessible and high quality.

The successful candidate will coordinate municipal projects through all phases, support water infrastructure testing, and develop CAD designs while maintaining accurate record drawings and asset data.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies or related technical discipline and 2 years municipal experience.
  • Experience in municipal infrastructure projects, especially water distribution, or experience with construction inspection, field supervision, and project documentation.
  • Class 5 Saskatchewan drivers license.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure systems, CAD software, GIS data systems, and construction testing practices.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, survey data and technical reports.
  • Excellent problem solving, report writing and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform field inspections in varying outdoor environments while upholding strict safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support, manage, and coordinate municipal projects throughout all phases; prepare daily construction logs, project records and field observations.
  • Conduct or coordinate water sampling, high-chlorine testing and backflow prevention device testing to support infrastructure acceptance.
  • Develop technical designs in CAD; maintain, organize, and safeguard accurate record drawings and as-built data.
  • Collect, verify and transfer infrastructure condition and asset data into the City's GIS and asset management systems.
  • Promote a safe work environment in compliance with OH&S standards.
  • Identify operational efficiencies and recommend software, equipment, technology and materials.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from the public, staff, contractors, consultants and external agencies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
