Job summary

Centerra Gold Inc. is seeking a Technician, Hauling for Mount Milligan Mine. The role operates on a 7 days on / 7 days off, 12-hour days, with camp accommodations provided and bus transportation from select locations.

The Hauling Operator will run an Articulated Rock Truck or a Packer, maintaining equipment and following safety policies on site.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience operating heavy equipment or haul trucks.
• Strict adherence to safety rules and guidelines.
• Ability to stay alert during all hours and weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Strong leadership and teamwork skills; able to work independently.
• Open pit mining experience is an asset.
• Valid BC Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operational integrity to meet safety, environmental, quality, costs, production and continuous improvement targets.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports.
• Report unsafe mechanical conditions to a supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment.
• Follow established traffic patterns to avoid hazards and other hazards.

About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an Technician, Hauling to join our Mount Milligan Mine (MTM) operations site.

This role operates on a rotation of 7 days on / 7 days off at a 12-hour daily schedule with camp accommodations provided.

Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, the Hauling Operator(s) will be responsible for operating an Articulated Rock Truck or a Packer in a safe and responsible manner. The operator must also clean, maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures.

Your Responsibilities Will Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Assist with the operational integrity of the Mining department as required; to achieve safety, environmental, quality, costs, production and continuous improvement targets
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift safety inspections and complete daily equipment reports
• Report unsafe mechanical conditions to a supervisor
• Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment
• Follow established traffic patterns avoiding road hazards and other hazardous conditions

About You

The following will be critical to successfully perform this role:

• 2 or more years experience running heavy equipment or operating a haul truck is preferable
• Attention and compliance to established safety rules and guidelines is paramount
• Ability to stay alert and pay attention to detail during all hours and weather conditions encountered during a shift
• Ability to safely climb and access equipment, as well as lift heavy objects up to 50lbs
• Strong leadership/team skills and the ability to work independently as required
• Experience in an open pit mining environment is an asset
• Valid BC Drivers License required

Working Conditions

• Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7x7, 12 hours per day
• Candidates must be able to maintain high levels of performance for extended shifts, up to 12 hours in duration
• Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Mount Milligan is a safety-sensitive environment and promotes a drug & alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a ZERO - TOLERANCE policy, with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs/paraphernalia on site
• Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from Prince George, Fort St. James and Mackenzie
