Our Measurement Team is seeking an Automation Technician to be located in Grande Prairie, AB. The primary operations consist of design, implementation, and maintenance of operations systems.

Responsibilities
  1. Maintain, configure, and commission a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  2. Familiarity with AER/OGC measurement requirements for RTU and SCADA.
  3. Assist with area SCADA Radio/cell architecture, design, and support.
  4. Understand and perform safety responsibilities such as hazard identification and emergency response.
  5. Understand oil and gas facilities for production, compression, water disposal, liquid/gas processing, and artificial lift.
  6. Read and understand Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), Shutdown Key (SDK) documentation, and Input/Output (I/O) layouts, panel wiring diagrams.
  7. Understand the wiring and capabilities of process end devices (transmitters, pumps, valves, etc.).
  8. Understand PID control and perform associated configuration (includes control element selection, loop tuning, etc.).
  9. Work with operations teams and perform approved associated MOCs.
  10. Configure Modbus communications in various devices for communications and control.
  11. Understand and configure HMI integration to various RTUs, PLCs, and other Control Devices.
  12. Support and troubleshoot Enterprise SCADA Systems, including communications issues, service failures, client access, hardware, and OS failures.
  13. Understand interfaces to other measurement, corporate, and accounting systems (PI, FlowCal, etc.).
  14. Ensure ongoing performance improvement through job progression, site-specific training, and process training.
  15. Complete corrective work orders to repair/resolve faulty equipment affecting safety or environmental systems.
  16. Demonstrate a consultative approach with construction, operations, and maintenance staff, including internal and external engineering support.
  17. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements.
  18. Maintain high communication levels with stakeholders regarding projects, timelines, and priorities.
  19. Be available for an on-call schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  20. Some work in camp locations may be required.
Qualifications
  1. Five or more years of industry experience.
  2. Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Tech preferred.
  3. Maintenance experience with well sites, compression, and processing is desired.
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. Proficient in PC use and Microsoft Office Suite.
  7. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  8. Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
