Job summary

DAIKIN COMFORT TECHNOLOGIES MFG INC in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Technical Trainer to deliver comprehensive product and technical training to internal and external customers. You will coordinate labs, develop curricula, and ensure high standards of training quality.

The role requires extensive HVAC knowledge, strong presentation skills, and the ability to work with sales, product marketing, service, and training teams. Travel up to 20-50% may be required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience with HVAC installation, commissioning, service and maintenance.
  • 8+ years facilitating product and technical training.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present at conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate technical and/or sales training including installation, controls, commissioning, service, troubleshooting, product, and basic applications.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop or enhance curriculum as required.
  • Prepare training facility and lab prior to training classes.
  • Maintain training material inventory at assigned location.
  • Maintain training facility standards, including equipment and tools.
  • Assist in development of product and technical training programs, including curriculum and corresponding training materials such as PowerPoint presentations, videos, and manuals.
  • Provide training support, including communication, promotion and coordination of product and technical training.
  • Act as a liaison between sales, product marketing, service, and training.
  • Assist at educational or industry conferences; ability to present at conferences.
  • Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.
  • Audit technical trainers 1&2 and experienced independent trainers

Job description

The Technical Trainer provides product and technical training support to internal and external customers. Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through training and providing satisfactory customer technical support.

Position Responsibilities

Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience training in the technical service field
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of HVAC products and controls
  • Knowledge of management systems is a plus
  • Proven track record of success in service and customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to interact with students of varied backgrounds
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, students and customers
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external customers; builds long‑term business relationships; represents the Company’s brand to all customers
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical business periodicals, professional journals and technical procedures
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and develop course curriculum
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues

Experience
  • 8+ years of experience with HVAC installation, commissioning, service and maintenance
  • 8+ years facilitating product and technical training
Education/Certification
  • HVAC degree or certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field, preferred
