We are transforming the legal experience for all by bettering the lives of legal professionals while increasing access to justice. Summary: This role combines live technical training delivery with instructional design and e-learning development for Clio Operate customers. The Technical Trainer serves as a Clio Operate subject matter expert who assesses customer needs, delivers engaging live sessions, troubleshoots technical and configuration questions, and builds, maintains, and continuously improves self‑paced Articulate Rise courses that scale training across the customer base.

Responsibilities
  • Assess customer technical environments and workflows to identify training needs, and recommend appropriate training solutions to enhance their practice management and productivity.
  • Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions for customers covering various aspects of Clio Operate.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and best practices on utilizing Clio Operate to optimize workflows and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot technical and configuration questions that arise during training sessions, escalating complex issues to support or engineering as needed.

  • Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and functionalities in a clear and concise manner, across both live and self‑paced formats.
  • Design and build self‑paced e‑learning courses in Articulate Rise, applying instructional design principles — clear learning objectives, logical scaffolding, knowledge checks, and adult learning best practices.
  • Maintain and update existing Rise courses and other training content to reflect Clio Operate feature changes and new releases, ensuring materials remain accurate and current.
  • Build assessments and knowledge checks within courses to validate learner comprehension, and use LMS data (completion rates, quiz scores, engagement) to evaluate and improve training effectiveness.
  • Manage training content within the Learning Management System (LMS), including publishing, versioning, and reporting on usage and completion metrics.
  • Develop supporting learning assets — job aids, quick‑reference guides, and storyboards — to reinforce and extend live training sessions.
  • Manage instructional design projects end‑to‑end, from scoping and storyboarding through stakeholder review and publishing.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted advisor throughout their training and adoption journey while maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service in all interactions.
  • Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to training content based on customer feedback and learner outcome data.
  • Collaborate with product, support, and professional services teams to identify training gaps and translate them into new self‑paced e‑learning content.
  • Share insights and customer feedback to become an advocate for customers with internal stakeholders and contribute to product enhancements and improvements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Proven experience with Articulate Rise (or a comparable e‑learning authoring tool such as Storyline) for building self‑paced courses.
  • Instructional design experience — familiarity with ADDIE or similar frameworks, adult learning principles, and storyboarding.
  • Experience administering or publishing content within a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to troubleshoot configuration and workflow questions within Clio Operate.
  • Strong live and virtual facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Clio Operate or comparable legal practice management / matter management software, including configuration and administration.
  • Comfortable working with product documentation, release notes, and technical specifications to keep training content current.
