Job summary

CMHA Peel Dufferin Branch is seeking a Technical Trainer to develop and deliver training for technical equipment, digital tools, and systems that support employees. The role includes planning for a new LMS and related systems, with training, administration, reporting, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Status: Full-time contract until June 2027, 37.5 hours/week. Location: Brampton, hybrid workplace with on-site presence as needed. Salary: $62,425.03–$73,441.21 CAD annually.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in training/ instructional design or technical training
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs for technical topics
  • Experience with LMS/e-learning platforms
  • Able to travel within Peel Region and Dufferin County

We're looking for a full-time contract Technical Trainer to join our team!

The Technical Trainer will lead the development and delivery of training for the technical equipment, digital tools, and systems that support employees in their work. The role is also expected to contribute to the planning and potential implementation of a new Learning Management System (LMS), as well as other technical systems that may be introduced or required, including related training, administration, reporting, maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.

Status: Full-time contract until June 2027, 37.5 hours per week. Note, this posting is for an active vacancy.
Salary: $62,425.03 - $73,441.21 annually (Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary)
Location: This position is based out of our 314-7700 Hurontario St., Brampton office. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs

What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with program managers and key stakeholders to identify training needs related to new product introductions, product updates, and gaps in employee product knowledge
  • Design and develop engaging training materials, including presentations, manuals, job aids, e-learning modules, and assessments tailored to the agency’s products and services
  • Update training resources regularly to reflect the latest product features, functionalities, and industry best practices
  • Facilitate in-person or virtual training sessions to educate employees on new products, updates, and key knowledge areas
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through pre- and post-training evaluations, employee feedback, and performance metrics
  • Prepare reports on training outcomes, participation rates, and ROI to inform continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with People & Culture and Education teams to align technical training programs with overall agency goals and initiatives
  • Partner with managers to ensure training aligns with program goals and addresses specific team needs
  • Work closely with project teams to understand the details and functionalities of new products being introduced to the company.

What You Need to Join Our Team:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, Instructional Design or a related field
  • Technical background or certifications in relevant areas (e.g. IT or specific product knowledge) is a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in a training, instructional design or technical training role
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs, particularly for technical or product related topics
  • Experience in conducting training needs assessments and creating learning materials tailored to various learning styles
  • Experience working with e-learning platforms, learning management systems (LMS), or virtual training tools
  • Experience with new product rollouts, product support or technology implementations in a corporate environment is preferred
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Knowledge of the company’s products, services, and industry or a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to technical content
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel within and around Peel Region and Dufferin County
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
