Job description

Our client is seeking a technically minded and relationship-driven Technical Sales Representative to grow an established territory within the industrial power transmission market.

This is a consultative outside sales role combining account management, new business development, and technical problem-solving. You will work directly with OEMs, distributors, consulting engineers, and industrial end users to understand their applications and recommend appropriate electromechanical solutions.

About Our Client

Our client is an established international manufacturer and trusted provider of industrial power transmission and electromechanical drive solutions. Its products support essential operations across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, mining, water treatment, material handling, automotive, pulp and paper, and other process-driven environments.

The organization is known for its engineering expertise, high-quality solutions, and long-standing customer relationships. Employees are supported by experienced technical and engineering teams, an extensive product portfolio, and a company culture centred on customer service, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow relationships with existing customers across the assigned territory.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through prospecting, referrals, project leads, and industry research.
  • Provide technical guidance on power transmission applications, including motors, gear units, drives, brakes, and variable-speed solutions.
  • Gather application requirements such as speed, ratio, horsepower, torque, service factor, mounting position, and enclosure needs.
  • Prepare product selections, quotations, proposals, and supporting technical information.
  • Support customers with product demonstrations, application questions, and problem resolution.
  • Track sales leads, projects, quotations, and target-account activity.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and activity reports while maintaining accurate customer and opportunity information.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, pricing, and emerging opportunities within industries such as mining, water and wastewater, manufacturing, pulp and paper, and automotive.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and technical teams on more complex applications.
  • Travel regularly throughout the territory, including occasional overnight travel.
The Person

You are a credible technical salesperson who enjoys being in front of customers, understanding how their operations work, and helping them solve real application challenges. You are equally comfortable speaking with engineers and project managers as you are with millwrights, maintenance professionals, purchasing teams, and distributor representatives.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • A diploma, certificate, or degree in mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, business, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • At least two to three years of outside sales experience, ideally within power transmission, industrial automation, motors and drives, engineered equipment, or a related technical field.
  • Strong mechanical and electromechanical aptitude.
  • The ability to interpret customer application requirements and select appropriate technical solutions.
  • Experience preparing quotations and presenting technical products or solutions to individuals and groups.
  • Strong prospecting, account development, and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • A consultative approach supported by strong listening, questioning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confidence working independently and managing a geographically defined sales territory.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple customer requests, projects, and deadlines.
  • A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.

To be considered, applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada, including holding any required permits. Our recruitment services are always free for job seekers.
