THE ROLE

The Technical Sales Representative-Outside Sales is responsible for providing field technical sales support to customers of John Brooks Company in various markets and industries. The incumbent will be responsible for consultative field sales activities – both generating and closing sales opportunities, necessary to maintain and grow business for Filtration, Compressed Air Purification and Dryer, and Heat Exchanger product lines. Our Technical Sales Representatives are responsible for overall customer satisfaction, while meeting or exceeding the territory sales and profitability targets.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for providing top quality field technical sales support to customers for filtration products and systems
  2. Prospect and generate sales opportunities and leads
  3. Establish and maintain professional business relations with new and existing customers
  4. Service existing customers as well as new territory growth
  5. Visit customers to review products & applications, evaluate and recommend custom filtration solutions to suit individual customer needs
  6. CRM management
  7. Participate in joint calls with management, suppliers, and other division representatives
  8. Continuous learning/supplier/factory/virtual

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  1. Post-secondary degree/diploma in a technical field
  2. Excellent communication skills in both English and French
  3. Minimum 1-3 years’ outside sales experience – industrial filtration products; preferred
  4. 3-4 years’ experience with industrial system review and calculations
  5. A hunter mindset with a strong technical aptitude and a general understanding of industrial processes
  6. Must demonstrate interpersonal savvy in order to build and maintain relationships
  7. Excellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skills
  8. Advanced computer skills; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.)
  9. Strong presentation skills and experience preparing professional PowerPoint decks
  10. Valid Driver’s License
  11. Demonstrated alignment with John Brooks values; customer first, ownership/accountability, respect, performance excellence, integrity and innovation

Desirable:

  1. Working knowledge of industry products, systems and applications
  2. Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  1. Fast-paced environment in a dynamic competitive industry
  2. Daily customer and inter-departmental/branch communication via telephone calls, faxes, emails, and virtual meetings
  3. Exposure to deadlines, multiple demands and priorities, multi-tasking, and interruptions
  4. Day travel to customer & supplier sites
  5. Long distance travel to customer & supplier sites, overnight travel as required – approx. 10%
  6. Ability to lift 50lbs, on occasion
