Job summary

O'Dell HVAC Group in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a Technical Parts & Counter Sales Specialist to support customers and internal sales teams with expert HVAC guidance. You will advise on replacement parts, interpret drawings, and help identify solutions that keep projects on track and customers satisfied.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or related field.
• Refrigeration Mechanic and/or G1 Gas Technician certification preferred.
• Ontario College of Trades membership is a plus.
• Minimum five years in HVAC parts sales or technical HVAC environment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs.
• Experience with inventory management systems and standard software.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and recommendations for HVAC parts and aftermarket solutions.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and equipment requirements.
• Troubleshoot inquiries and propose repair, replacement, or upgrade options.
• Identify opportunities to grow aftermarket and parts sales.

We are seeking a Technical Parts & Counter Sales Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Aftermarket Sales Manager, you will play a key role in supporting our customers and internal sales teams by providing expert technical guidance on HVAC parts and aftermarket solutions. This hands-on role combines technical product expertise, customer service, counter sales, and warehouse operations to ensure customers receive accurate solutions, exceptional service, and timely order fulfillment.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide technical support and recommendations for HVAC systems, replacement parts, and aftermarket solutions to customers and internal sales teams
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and equipment requirements to accurately identify replacement components
• Troubleshoot customer inquiries and recommend repair, replacement, retrofit, or upgrade solutions
• Identify opportunities to grow aftermarket and replacement parts sales through proactive customer support
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by delivering responsive, knowledgeable service
• Process quotations, sales orders, returns, and customer inquiries accurately and efficiently
• Assist walk-in customers at the parts counter with product selection and technical support
• Pick, pack, ship, receive, inspect, and stock inventory while maintaining accurate inventory records
• Support cycle counts and inventory control activities to ensure inventory accuracy
• Cut custom air filters to customer specifications as required
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and counter sales environment
• Stay current on HVAC products, manufacturers, and industry developments
• Other responsibilities as assigned

What You Bring

• Post-secondary education in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Refrigeration Mechanic and/or G1 Gas Technician certification strongly preferred
• If licensed, membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in HVAC parts sales or a related technical HVAC environment
• Strong knowledge of HVAC equipment, components, replacement parts, and aftermarket applications
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
• Experience troubleshooting HVAC equipment and recommending replacement or retrofit solutions
• Experience providing exceptional customer service in a parts counter or technical sales environment
• Working knowledge of inventory management systems and standard computer applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical customers
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team
• Forklift experience or certification considered an asset
