We are not work‑from‑home, hybrid, or in‑office – we are any and all of those options! Deepening social connections and offering shared experiences is a cornerstone of the way we work. We connect as a team at our Team Week experiences four times a year and at our recently established Hub locations – SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area, NY; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Calgary, AB; and Toronto, ON.

We are currently looking for candidates located within 60 miles of any of the listed hubs to foster more in‑person connections while maintaining our flexible remote culture.

About This Role

As part of Intersect’s Technical Operations team, you’ll help drive performance excellence across a growing fleet of PV and storage projects in ERCOT. You’ll partner closely with site teams, Asset Management, and third‑party O&M providers to monitor system health, diagnose issues, and ensure assets deliver strong, reliable output in dynamic market conditions. This position supports fleet‑wide operational readiness and continuous improvement, contributing directly to fleet reliability, financial performance, and long‑term asset value.

Team Overview

The current Technical Operations team works closely with Development and Construction to move Intersect’s pipeline from concept through commissioning, remaining deeply involved throughout the full project lifecycle. As Intersect scales its operating fleet over the coming year, the Technical Operations organization is expanding to support a larger portfolio and deliver best‑in‑class asset performance.

What You’ll Do

Monitor and Optimize Site Performance

  • Track PV and storage system performance using advanced data analytics tools to identify underperformance and emerging issues
  • Diagnose root causes using operational data, engineering knowledge, and site feedback
  • Prioritize and elevate issues to ensure timely resolution and minimal operational impact

Strengthen Operational Reporting and Insights

  • Develop clear production reports and summaries of field service activities in coordination with site teams and third‑party O&M
  • Support ongoing root‑cause investigations and maintain thorough documentation for operational learnings
  • Prepare performance reporting to lenders, highlighting production trends, key issues, and mitigation actions

Drive Collaboration Across Asset Operations

  • Partner with Asset Management to allocate resources and budgets toward the highest‑priority site needs
  • Coordinate with O&M providers to ensure effective maintenance execution and strong communication flows
  • Contribute engineering insight to support real‑time operational decision‑making

Enhance Controls and System Performance

  • Optimize PV, storage, and plant‑level control systems to maximize system availability and output in ERCOT market conditions
  • Use modeling tools such as PlantPredict to evaluate performance and identify improvement opportunities
What You’ll Bring
  • A technical educational background, such as a STEM bachelor’s degree or a major in environmental or sustainability sciences
  • 2+ years of experience as a performance engineer for a power plant operator or developer; experience working with O&M providers is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and quantify performance issues using data
  • Proficiency with PlantPredict and other performance modeling tools
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical single‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, and technical schematics
  • Working knowledge of plant operations, electrical systems, SCADA systems, and general power‑generation processes
  • Experience analyzing equipment performance using digital monitoring and diagnostic tools
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, preferably Python
  • Proficiency with G Suite and experience using monitoring platforms such as Envision, Power Factors, and AlsoEnergy
  • Qualities that will help you succeed: structured problem‑solving, curiosity, clear communication, and a collaborative working style
