Overview

AtkinsRéalis is one of Canada's largest private sector nuclear engineering groups. Our expertise includes Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) engineering, Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering, Plant Life Management and Extension, Retube Tooling Systems, Inspection and Maintenance Services, Steam Generator Replacement, Plant Equipment Refurbishment and Retrofits. Our Nuclear Canada business is experiencing significant growth driven in part by planned New Build projects underway internationally and domestically.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the design process from concept to detailed design of Civil and Structural Systems including definition of system functional and performance requirements and environmental and seismic qualification.
  • Managing a team of civil and structural engineering professionals (Engineers, Technical Specialist, Designers and/or Technologists/Technicians).
  • Experience managing engineering work with interfacing requirements involving other engineering teams (Civil, Mechanical, Human Factors, Procurement, Quality etc.).
  • Planning and executing work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinating and oversighting Civil activities related to the completion of fundamental design for a nuclear power plant.
  • Participating and leading in the preparation of commercial proposals, engineering proposals and approving the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
  • Ensuring that work is conducted in accordance with applicable Engineering and Quality Assurance procedures, and in accordance with the contract, applicable specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Ensuring department deliverables are produced in accordance with budget, schedule, quality, and technical requirements.
  • Removing barriers that could impact safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance.
  • Forecasting resource demands for the assigned work scope, including required skills, capabilities, and durations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field from an accredited University.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with good standing.
  • 10+ years' experience supporting various types of projects including engineering services, refurbishments, and/or new build construction projects.
  • 5+ years' experience leading teams is required.
  • Experience on a new build project is an asset (e.g. nuclear, combined cycle, un-conventional nuclear).
  • Experience in nuclear and/or CANDU technology modifications.
  • Experience in interfacing with CNSC and TSSA including preparing correspondence letters, TSSA registration and reconcilation packages, code classifications.
  • Experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects.
  • Experience in executing large scale Concept-to-Design-to-Implementation projects is an asset.
  • Demonstrated strong directional leadership in a dynamic work environment, with people management focus and ability to manage technical staff with a broad range of experience.
  • Strong knowledge in civil and structures engineering principles and ability to apply engineering principles and develop effective practical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N286, CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME BPVC Section III Division 1 and ASME B31.1.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA standards, NBCC, pertaining to Civil /Structural Engineering and other applicable standards and nuclear regulatory guides.
  • Will need to travel to and potentially work at sites to meet business needs, inclusive of project (construction) site and equipment / component suppliers.
  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada.
