You will balance hands-on development with team leadership, mentor teammates, and shape the future structure of the Appian team while ensuring alignment with governance and enterprise objectives.

Compensation: T4:$77/HR-$85/HR | IC: $90-$100- PER HOUR

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Appian Technical Lead to support the continued development and long-term ownership of an enterprise Appian business-process and workflow platform.

This role requires a rare combination of hands-on Appian technical expertise, solution leadership, and strong business communication skills. The Technical Lead will partner with developers, business analysts, program leaders, and key stakeholders to translate business priorities into scalable Appian solutions.

The ideal candidate can operate as an individual technical contributor while also serving as the business-facing representative for the development team. This person will lead technical and functional discussions, guide solution delivery, and help shape the future structure of the Appian team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the design, development, implementation, and enhancement of Appian applications.
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand workflows, priorities, pain points, and future-state requirements.
• Translate business needs into practical and scalable Appian solutions.
• Facilitate product-roadmap discussions, business review sessions, sprint-zero activities, and backlog-refinement meetings.
• Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and the Appian development team.
• Represent program leadership in stakeholder meetings when needed.
• Guide developers through solution design, development standards, and delivery decisions.
• Contribute directly to development, architecture, troubleshooting, and technical problem-solving when required.
• Support the transition of application knowledge and ownership from the implementation partner to the internal team.
• Help establish technical standards, governance practices, and a sustainable operating model for the Appian platform.
• Mentor team members and potentially assume formal team-leadership responsibilities as the program grows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and connected platforms, including Salesforce.

Required Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience developing applications using the Appian platform.
• Experience leading the technical design or architecture of Appian solutions.
• Strong understanding of business-process management, workflow automation, and enterprise application development.
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.
• Experience facilitating discussions with both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
• Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on individual contribution with broader technical leadership.
• Experience leading development reviews, refinement sessions, roadmap conversations, or solution workshops.
• Demonstrated ability to work across business, product, architecture, and engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Appian Lead Developer, Technical Lead, or Solution Architect.
• Experience within banking, wealth management, capital markets, or another regulated financial-services environment.
• Experience supporting an enterprise Appian implementation from initial development through production support and BAU ownership.
• Experience managing or mentoring developers.
• Interest in progressing into a formal technical-management or people-leadership role.
• Familiarity with Salesforce or other systems integrated with Appian.
