Job summary

Englobe is seeking a Technical Director, Mechanical to lead and deliver complex projects across Atlantic Canada. You will mentor engineers, guide project teams, and collaborate with clients and leadership to ensure successful execution.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree with P.Eng. registration, 15+ years of experience, and strong leadership and communication skills. A hybrid work arrangement and health/safety responsibilities accompany a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required with P.Eng. designation in good standing.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, project delivery, construction, and operations.
  • Experience leading large, complex capital projects from concept through execution and close-out.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, and reporting.
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and influence across multiple projects and regions.
  • Experience supporting business development, including proposals and client engagement.

Your Main Responsibilities

As a Technical Director, Mechanical, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to support the successful delivery of complex projects across Atlantic Canada. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regional leadership to strengthen project execution, mentor technical professionals, and drive operational excellence.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety leadership by promoting Englobe's health and safety culture and ensuring compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements;
  • Provide technical and project delivery leadership for complex and large-scale projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives;
  • Serve as a senior technical resource and trusted advisor to project teams, supporting the resolution of complex engineering and execution challenges;
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project development, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out;
  • Establish and promote best practices in project planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and performance reporting;
  • Support project managers and technical teams by providing strategic guidance and expertise without direct line authority;
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a senior representative during technical discussions, project reviews, and business development activities;
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, pursuit strategies, scope development, risk assessments, and project execution planning for major opportunities;
  • Mentor and coach engineers, project managers, and emerging leaders, fostering technical excellence and professional growth across the region;
  • Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of standardized processes, digital tools, innovation initiatives, and best practices in project delivery.
What Makes You Unique
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum 15 years of progressively responsible experience in engineering, project delivery, construction, and operations environments;
  • Demonstrated experience leading large, complex capital projects from concept development through execution and close-out;
  • Strong understanding of project controls, including budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, risk management, and performance reporting;
  • Proven ability to provide technical leadership and influence project teams across multiple projects and geographic regions;
  • Extensive experience supporting business development activities, including proposals, client engagement, strategic pursuits, and project planning;
  • Strong client relationship management skills with the ability to build trust and successfully manage challenging stakeholder situations;
  • Demonstrated success mentoring engineers, project managers, and technical professionals within multidisciplinary environments;
  • Experience implementing process improvements, digital solutions, and innovative approaches to enhance project performance;
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and business units;
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset.
