Job description

Sanctuary, a world leader in building AI-based control systems for humanoid robots, is seeking a Technical Artist. Reporting to our Software Engineering Manager, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of our product's design, capabilities, features, and customer benefits as you join us as we create Physical AI for general purpose robots.

The ideal candidate for the Technical Artist position enjoys active participation in the creative production process and possesses the technical know-how to bring a creative vision to reality. The Technical Artist will also get a chance to work with engineers and research scientists throughout the product development cycle. If you are passionate about keeping up with the latest tools and methodologies for the creative production process and you want to work on the cutting edge of both AI and Robotics development, this is the role for you.

Success Criteria
  • Bring hands-on Technical 3D Artist experience to ensure the utmost quality of assets through production.
  • Gain cutting edge platform experience as you create tools and scripts to assist research scientists and engineers with content simulation and rendering matters.
  • Expand your career experience as you design and implement elegant data-driven content creation pipelines.
  • Achieve company-wide visibility as you partner closely with engineers to inject/troubleshoot various assets utilized by our world engine and maintain documentation for tools, processes, training and research.

Your Experience

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Technical 3D Artist experience in the creative product, simulation, gaming, or animation industries.
  • Strong understanding of profiling and optimizing visual assets and physics scenes for real-time rendering applications.
  • Experience with collision modelling assets.
  • Proficiency in 3D asset creation, developing high-quality 3D assets from scratch, ensuring they meet performance, aesthetics, and physics requirements.
  • Understanding of artist workflows and lighting theory (PBR and PBL).
  • Background in photogrammetry and photogrammetry optimization methods for high-quality asset generation.
  • Preferred experience in Robotics, Simulation, Physics Engines (Mujoco, Issac Sim), AAA game development.
  • Nice-to-have: experience in generative AI for texture and 3D model generation.

Skills

  • Working with and maintaining production pipelines and workflow automation with large scale asset libraries.
  • Uses the best tools and methods for improving and facilitating the production workflow.
  • Proficient user of Blender for asset generation and developing plugins.
  • Proficient programming experience with Git and Python for tool development.
  • Rendering profiling, data gathering, and analysis using simulation/game engine profiling tools.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and creative at finding solutions.
  • Above all else, a consistently positive attitude and a willingness to do whatever it takes to create robust solutions to complex problems.
  • Empathetic listener with conflict-resolution capabilities.
  • Clear communicator and adaptive interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently.
  • Patience, persistence, and attention to detail when resolving issues.
  • Mission-driven and passionate about bringing physical artificial intelligence to general-purpose robots.
