Job summary

EA SPORTS is seeking a Technical Artist to join the Tech - Technical Art team in Vancouver. You will help build pipelines, tools, and workflows used by content creators across EA SPORTS titles, aligning art and engineering goals.

You will own technical issues, collaborate with artists, engineers, and managers, and contribute to asset optimization and testing. This onsite role requires comfort with both art and science and a passion for games.

Qualifications

  • At least 3+ years of cinematic/games production experience.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field.
  • Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
  • Proficient scripting/programming in Python or C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
  • Experience with 2D/3D art packages such as Maya, Photoshop, Houdini.
  • A solutions-provider, especially as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.
  • Experience with asset optimization challenges/techniques.
  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems to resolve technical challenges and limitations.
  • A Passion for Games!

Important Note:

This team works onsite at EA Vancouver (Burnaby office). Applicants are required to work onsite 3 days, Tuesday - Thursday every week.

Your Responsibilities

The Technical Artist (TA) develops pipelines, workflows, and technology innovations used by content creators across all of EA SPORTS. As part of a central team of Technical Artists, they partner with development teams to build shared and scalable solutions. The main areas of responsibilities include development of content production tools, pipelines, asset optimization/integration, and workflows. TAs are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their projects and bring them to resolution.

You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science background; however, you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science. Technical Artists report to Technical Art Directors on the EA SPORTS Tech - Technical Art team.

Pay Transparency - North America
Compensation And Benefits

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES
  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$104,500 - $142,800 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and other incentive programs.
