Job summary

EA SPORTS Vancouver is seeking a Technical Artist to bridge artists and engineers on the EA SPORTS FC team. You will own art production workflows, tools, pipelines, asset integration, and shader development, reporting to the Technical Art Directors.

This hybrid role requires 3 days on site (Tue–Thu) with hands-on experience in Python and C# scripting, Maya, and game production. A 3+ year background in cinematic or games production and a related bachelor’s degree are preferred.

  • Strong communication with artists and engineers.
  • Experience Python/C# scripting; C++ a plus.
  • Knowledge of Maya for 3D art pipelines.

Your Responsibilities

The Technical Artist is a bridge between the artists and engineers. They are considered part of the art team and work closely with artists, project managers, SEs and the Technical Art team. The main areas of responsibilities include art production workflows, tools, pipelines, asset optimization/integration and shader development. TAs are expected to assume ownership over any technical issues that arise on their project and bring them to resolution. You can be from an Art, Design, Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science background; however you must demonstrate a comfort level in working with both art and science. Technical Artists report to Technical Art Directors on the EA SPORTS team.

This team works hybrid 3 days/onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday) at EA Vancouver.

Your Qualifications
  • Ideally at least 3 years of cinematic/games production experience.
  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related field is desired.
  • Effective at communicating with different audiences: artists, engineers, managers.
  • Extensive experience scripting/programming in python and C#. (C++ is a bonus, but is not required).
  • Knowledge of 3D art packages (Maya).
  • A solutions‑provider, particularly as it pertains to testing and debugging technical issues.
  • A willingness to jump into the unknown and solve new problems; the ability to think creatively to resolve technical challenges and limitations.

Compensation And Benefits

The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).

PAY RANGES
  • British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$104,500 - $142,800 CAD

Pay is just one part of the overall compensation at EA.

For Canada, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top‑up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full‑time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
