Job summary

Help support the technology behind Ontario's emergency health services.

As a Technical Analyst, Operations, you'll contribute to the reliability of systems that connect 9-1-1 callers, paramedic services, and hospitals across the province. In a collaborative team environment, you'll help monitor, troubleshoot, and improve critical systems while building your technical and problem-solving skills. $1,628.82 - $2,104.14 Per week*

About the job
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for IT and telecommunications services that support emergency health systems
  • Monitor and troubleshoot systems to help ensure services remain reliable and available
  • Deliver Tier 1, 2, and 3 technical support, with support and guidance from experienced team members
  • Work with colleagues, vendors, and partners to resolve issues and support ongoing service delivery
  • Contribute to maintaining security and encryption practices across supported systems
  • Support stakeholders by helping them understand and effectively use the digital services provided
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance system performance, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Gain experience working with a range of technologies, including network infrastructure, VPNs, firewalls, public safety radio systems, and cloud-based solutions

What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements
  • a valid class G Ontario Driver's Licence to travel throughout the province

Technical knowledge

You have knowledge of:

  • current and emerging technologies, including server and desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, VPN hardware/software, firewalls, and network communication protocols
  • network architecture and topology, including physical and virtual servers, backup software, databases, and diagnostic tools for complex technical issues
  • configuration and maintenance of networking equipment such as routers, firewalls, and switches using NX-OS, FXOS, and CAT-OS
  • systems development methodologies, technical models, protocols, IEEE standards, and principles of application/network failover redundancy
  • physical network interfaces such as Fiber, Twinax, Copper, and emerging cabling and connector technologies
  • end-user licensing agreements to fulfill service obligations
  • Cybersecurity Fundamentals: MITRE ATT&CK framework, common attack vectors (phishing, ransomware, credential theft), vulnerabilities (CVEs, patching concepts), Threat Detection & Analysis: Log analysis (authentication logs, firewall logs, endpoint logs).
  • alerts triage and correlation and understanding of: Malware behavior, Phishing indicators, Lateral movement patterns
Analytical and problem-solving skills

You can:

  • diagnose and resolve technical issues by identifying root causes and recommending solutions (e.g., application updates, hardware/software reconfigurations)
  • troubleshoot connectivity issues using traffic flow, packet inspection, and event logging techniques
  • use scripting tools and programming languages to build automated solutions that update and collect data across large-scale systems
Communication and interpersonal skills

You can:

  • present technical and strategic information to senior management
  • interact with end users and external vendors
  • prepare discussion papers, briefing notes, and recommendations for hardware, software, and network enhancements (e.g., upgrades, new features/services)
  • write technical documentation for applications, networks, and operating procedures (e.g., backup and disaster recovery, deployments, installation)
  • explain technical solutions/concepts to non-technical staff and senior leadership
  • work both independently and within a team environment
Project management and organizational skills

You can:

  • apply project management methodologies and techniques to develop, design, and implement project plans, budgets, and human resources
  • manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • provide guidance and support to team members while coordinating shifting priorities across departments
