Job summary

AMA - Alberta Motor Association in Edmonton is seeking an experienced IT Operations professional to join the Insurance IT Operations team. You will support data center hardware and software, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continual improvement across the technology stack.

The role requires participation in an on-call rotation, collaboration with multiple IT teams, and delivering well-documented changes in a controlled environment.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in IT or CS is an asset or 1+ year of infrastructure experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Application Systems Analysis, Implementation, Support & Development experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of desktop computing experience.
  • Certifications such as AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect are assets.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate to achieve success.
  • Self-motivated, organized, flexible and resourceful.
  • Experience with workplace modernization initiatives.
  • Helpdesk experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of object‑oriented programming languages is an asset.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, OpsGenie, or Guidewire is an asset.

What You'll Do
  • Report to the Team Lead, Insurance IT Operations.
  • Works in an open office environment. Normal work hours are from 9-5, however, considering the 24-7 nature of IT, the position requires participation in an on-call rotation to support incident management and system maintenance efforts.
  • Actively participate in team standup meetings.
  • Work within agreed timelines that have been established for tasks and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate technical mastery and thought leadership within your domain.
  • Champion change within the team to support our culture of continual improvement.
  • Inspire proactive systems management and operational excellence throughout AMA's technical stack.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and support of data center hardware and software.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze system issues, and lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve problems.
  • Support the documentation of your team's environment considering all stages of operation, operating procedures, and disaster recovery.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain enterprise technology automation and integration scripts that address complex process flows.
  • Ensure that all system and application changes are developed, tested, and implemented in a well-controlled environment.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of standards for design, technical architecture, capacity planning, and security processes.
  • Actively participate in collaboration with other IT teams to understand and meet technical/functional system requirements.
  • Evaluate, design, and implement new products, tools and technology that could address both known and unknown organizational need.
What You've Done
  • Related post-secondary degree or diploma (Information Technology or Computer Science degree) is an asset or more than one year of Infrastructure experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Application Systems Analysis, Implementation, Support & Development experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of Desktop computing experience.
  • Amazon (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect), Agile (lean, SCRUM, KANBAN) certification would be considered an asset.
  • You have good communication and presentation skills.
  • You are able to work in a team environment and collaborate to achieve success.
  • You are self-motivated, organized, flexible and resourceful person.
  • You have experience in completing tasks for workplace modernization, capitalizing on newer technological offerings.
  • Helpdesk experience will be an asset.
  • Knowledge any of object-oriented programming languages will be an asset.
  • Experience with the following area of system specialties will be an asset:
    • ServiceNow
    • OpsGenie
    • Guidewire
