The Team Leader, UX Research, is responsible for leading, coaching, and growing a team of UX professionals focused on user research and analysis for our digital assets. This includes guiding employees in both day-to-day operations as well as longer-term performance and career planning. As a key member of the UX leadership team, the Team Leader, UX Research, will help shape the organization's UX practice by establishing standards for UX research practices, optimizing UX research operations, and evolving UX research as a discipline within Medavie. The Team Leader is also expected to perform hands-on research and analysis as needed to support execution.

This role is situated within the Digital Transformation Office, established to enable focused execution of Medavie's digital strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day UX research direction to team members, including guiding employees on tasks, reviewing work as needed, and advising on methods and best practices.
  • Supporting employee development through performance management and coaching, setting objectives, monitoring progress, encouraging learning, and supporting career development.
  • Enhancing the team's impact by assessing and evolving responsibilities, identifying skill gaps, scaling support to business needs, and leading recruitment efforts.
  • Fostering a positive employee experience by collecting and acting on feedback, promoting engagement activities, and building a sense of connection and purpose within the team.
  • Managing team efforts to achieve goals, including responding to business requests, planning work, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and evaluating success.
  • Contributing hands-on to work efforts, such as responding to requests, evaluating experiences, setting up tests or surveys, conducting interviews, and analyzing results.
  • Maturing UX research within Medavie by establishing standards, optimizing workflows, driving the UX Research Community of Practice, and advising leadership.
  • Raising awareness of UX research value by fostering interdepartmental relationships, participating in workshops, advocating in planning activities, and sharing success data.

Required Qualifications

Education : University degree in related field.

Work Experience : 5+ years as a UX research professional with proven leadership capabilities.

Other Qualifications :

  • Deep understanding of UX research methods and activities.
  • Experience with resource planning and project scheduling.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for negotiating priorities, resolving conflicts, and clear communication.
  • Passionate about UX, design, technology, and innovation.

Language Skills : Fluency in English is essential. Working knowledge of French is an asset.
