The Team Leader, Custodial

The Team Leader, Custodial is responsible for overseeing the custodial operations of a number of J.D. Irving, Limited properties in Saint John, NB, including the head office. The role ensures a clean, safe, and orderly environment and requires strong leadership to manage a team of custodial staff and contractors while maintaining high work quality.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a team of 17 individuals at the head office building.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Plan and prioritize daily custodial tasks such as cleaning offices, common areas, restrooms, and other designated spaces.
• Inspect facilities regularly to ensure cleanliness and address any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and coordinate replenishment as needed.
• Respond to feedback and address concerns from building occupants regarding custodial services.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies related to custodial operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Trade Certification.
• 5+ years of experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Schedule & Hours

• Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
• Ability to work evenings is required.
