We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a strong, highly skilled, experienced, and technically versatile leader for the Site Reliability Engineering Team.
As the Team Lead for Site Reliability Engineering, you will coach and mentor the SRE Team in the day-to-day technical operations and efficient functioning of Geotab’s server and software applications. This position will also act as an escalation point for any products pertaining to Site Reliability Engineering.
Manage team expectations with regards to task assignments, work arrangements, and other department expectations.
Communicate root cause analysis and related preventative actions internally and occasionally to strategic partners.
Develop and implement strategies with their team to identify solutions/improvements for Site Reliability Engineering.
Provide encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks.
Answer team member questions, help with team member problems, and oversee team member work for quality and guideline compliance.
Conduct team meetings relating to communicating employee tasks and continuing expectations.
Provide expert project leadership and guidance to the team as SME.
Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports.
Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to the team.
Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth, and training opportunities.
Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs, and career development planning.
Have an understanding of all products pertaining to Site Reliability Engineering and be able to make decisions and provide guidance in high-pressure scenarios involving these products, including their impact to the product, customer experience, and Geotab’s business.
Coordinate with other internal teams and represent Site Reliability Engineering in cross-team initiatives.
Act as a leader in “War Rooms” (Incident Bridges) with various internal Geotab teams and provide guidance to Site Reliability Engineering during incidents.
Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
3-5 years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering or similar role.
1-3 years of experience in overseeing daily operations; plans, organizes and ensures achievement of deliverables. Interacts daily with direct reports and functional peer groups. Resolves escalated issues and provides subject matter expertise. Monitors activities and reports and acts on findings. Develops and implements assigned policies and procedures, staffing protocols, employee performance management, training programs, quality improvement/management programs and budgets.
Strong troubleshooting skills; systematic problem solving approach.
Experience with Powershell, Python, SQL, Kubernetes and Linux-based systems.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations, training, delegation, and feedback.
Proven track record of coaching a team to success against evolving performance targets.
Leadership experience in a team-oriented workplace.
Success with coaching and development of employees.
Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve well-judged decisions.
Strong team player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
Technical competence using software programs, including but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
