Job summary

WSP is seeking a Team Lead – Senior Cost Controller to reinforce project controls and oversee cost management across multiple mandates in Canada. You will lead a cost control team, ensure robust budgeting, and collaborate with stakeholders to drive performance and value for clients and communities served.

The role requires a university degree in engineering/finance/project management, 10–15 years in cost control, strong EVM knowledge, and bilingual communication.

Qualifications

  • University degree in engineering, finance, project management or related field.
  • 10–15 years in cost control within complex engineering projects.
  • Proven expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM) and project financial control.
  • Experience in team management and development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in dynamic environments.
  • Knowledge of AACE and PMI frameworks; certifications are a strong asset.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Bilingualism required (English with external clients/partners beyond Quebec).

Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets and forecasts to maintain financial health of projects.
  • Analyze variances and recommend corrective actions to optimize performance.
  • Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to support decisions.
  • Ensure rigorous tracking of project performance with stakeholders.
  • Manage changes and their financial impacts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with processes, policies and contractual requirements.
  • Lead, engage and develop cost control team.
  • Allocate resources across projects.
  • Ensure quality of deliverables and review outputs.
  • Participate in recruitment and promote continuous improvement.

Your Impact
As a Cost Controller:
  • Manage budgets and forecasts to ensure the financial health of projects

The skills that set you apart
  • University degree, bachelor’s in engineering, finance, project management or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in cost control within complex engineering project environments
  • Proven expertise in Earned Value Management EVM and project financial control
  • Demonstrated experience in team management and development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in dynamic environments
  • Knowledge of AACE and PMI frameworks and certifications strong asset
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
  • Bilingualism is required as the individual will frequently be involved in projects with English-speaking clients and partners outside Quebec

Compensation

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YK: $122 900 – 162 800

MB & ON: $112 100 – 154 400

NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111 000 – 147 400
